John Philip Orate- Reaction Papers

Reaction Paper to “A Beautiful Mind”

The movie “A Beautiful Mind” is a beautiful movie. It takes us inside the mind of an immensely smart man named John Nash. But beyond the plot’s twists and turns, the actors, the lines, and the cinematography is this inspiration, this message to everyone that there are no dead ends in life, just detours to make this ride a lot worth it.
Stephen Hawking, Helen Keller, Frida Kahlo and Stevie Wonder are some of the testament to this detour. They may have run longer than most of us but what they did during the run is what makes them more an astounding person. Truly, they are an inspiration to others who have been given longer detours. That what they can do is just as great, or even greater, than the strongest, brightest, complete man can ever do in this planet.
But they are also an inspiration to every single person in this big planet. That if they are given a harder challenge to pass through, why can’t we do the same? The sky’s the limit for us. We need to take that inspiration, to work hard just as they have, and contribute to this society.

Long ago, dreams were such an abstract concept for us. It’s somehow a manifestation of our deepest thought. We can’t control it. We don’t understand it. It’s such a mysterious idea to us. But this movie made dreams more tangible than ever, to the point that we can even control it. And this movie lays out the possibility dreams can have in real life.
If this movie can become reality, society’s advancements can leap hundred folds compared to the past. Scientist could just dream and solve the world’s problems. For me, as future engineer, we could just use dreams to do the different computations and designs and just apply it when we wake up. This saves a lot of time and money.

There are infinite potential dream have for society. It just a matter of time before the technology is developed and running. And as we discussed in class, technology is neutral, it’s just a question of how we use it. And we never knew sleep can be productive! I need to take a nap now.
